Teams
- Teams of four people. Smaller teams are allowed at the organisers' discretion. Come as a team, a partial team or solo and we’ll place you on Saturday morning.
- Every member must be added to the Devpost submission to be eligible for prizes.
Building
- All code must be written between 10:30 Saturday and the 11:30 Sunday deadline. Bring ideas and designs, not a codebase.
- Public libraries, APIs, pre-trained models, scaffolding and AI coding assistants are all fine. Just say what you used.
- Disclose anything you didn’t build at the event. Undisclosed pre-existing work gets a project removed.
Data and ethics
- No real patient data, including anonymised data. Synthetic or openly licensed public datasets only (see Resources).
- Nothing may be presented as a medical device or fit for clinical use. These are research prototypes.
IP
- You own what you build. Your repo must be public for judging, so pick a licence (MIT is the usual default).
- By submitting, you let Leeds AI Society feature your project in write-ups, social posts and sponsor reports.
Judging
- Scored equally on Creativity & Innovation, Technical Sophistication, Impact, and Design & User Experience. Most Responsible Use of Data is judged separately.
- Judges’ decisions are final. Breaking these rules or the code of conduct can mean disqualification.
Venue
- HELIX is open overnight with committee on site. You can leave and come back.
- No alcohol or illegal substances. Keep fire exits clear, and keep an eye on your belongings.
- Tell us at check-in if you don’t want to be photographed.
- Feeling unwell or unsafe? Find a committee member. Going home early is always fine.
Code of conduct
We follow the MLH Code of Conduct. Harassment of any kind isn’t tolerated, and organisers may remove anyone who breaks it.
Report to us, not MLH: any committee member. In an emergency, call 999.
